Frequently asked questions
Is the AI clothing scanner really free?+
Yes. The web scanner is entirely free and requires no sign-up, with a limit of a few analyses per visitor per day. To scan your entire wardrobe without limits, download the Aura app.
What happens to my photo after the analysis?+
It is deleted immediately. The photo is processed in memory only for the duration of the analysis: it is never stored on our servers, on disk, or in any database. Its metadata (GPS location, device model) is stripped before the AI even sees it.
Which garments can the AI recognise?+
Practically every piece in a wardrobe: tops, shirts, dresses, trousers, skirts, jackets, coats, shoes, bags and accessories. If the photo does not show a garment, the scanner will honestly tell you.
Which photo formats are accepted?+
JPEG, PNG, WebP and HEIC (the iPhone photo format), up to 8 MB. On mobile you can take the photo directly from your browser.
How do I get the best analysis?+
Photograph the whole piece, well lit, ideally laid flat or on a hanger against a neutral background. The more visible the garment, the more precise the description and styling tips.
How is this different from the scanner in the Aura app?+
The web scanner is a preview: it analyses the piece as text. In the app, every scan gets automatic background removal, is turned into a styled product photo and saved to your digital wardrobe, which the AI then uses to build your daily outfits.
